Native blogging applications is coming the iPhone

iphone blogging

Blogging has become very popular in the last few years. People use it to break news, write about experiences, and about things that interest them. Also, the iPhone has become very popular. So what would you get if you could somehow bring blogging to the iPhone? Well, you would have yourself one popular application.

Most bloggers have had to write articles on the fly. Whether it be on the road, or at an event they are attending. Either way, sometimes we just have the need to get things done when away from the desk. The iPhone already sports an advanced enough browser to do some serious mobile blogging, but a native application will support advanced functionality that traditionally would only be available from an actual computer. This makes the announcement of a native WordPress and TypePad application that much better.

Six Apart already has an iPhone optimized version of their blogging platform. They plan to increase the functionality of their software for the iPhone in the form of 3rd party software.

“We’re taking it to the next level with our native iPhone application for TypePad that’s already in development.” - Chris Alden, CEO, Six Apart

WordPress also will be making their blogging software available for the iPhone as a native application. It is expected soon. Maybe even as soon as when the iPhone 2.0 firmware officially drops. WordPress was shy about details, but did say there is a device with WordPress built in, and “You can probably guess which one that is.”
